SPL acquired Ballina Locksmiths in November 2018. As members of the Master Locksmiths Association and Master Builders, our team of over 100 qualified employees specialises in general locksmithing, automotive locksmithing, electronic security and hardware locking solutions.
History of SPL Security Solutions
Founded in 1990 by Managing Director, Michael Vailutti, SPL started as a one-van mobile locksmith service in Surfers Paradise.
In 1999, Michael took on his first partner, Vince Todarello, along with several employees. Shortly after, the electronics division was born.
In 2000, the business expanded again to introduce architectural hardware, supplying and fitting world-class security products for some of South East Queensland’s most prestigious developments.
In 2001, Michael and Vince welcomed Vince Ransom as the third partner in the business.
In 2003, the accelerated growth of SPL was recognised by Business Review Weekly magazine and was featured as one of Australia’s fastest-growing companies.
In 2004, as the team continued to grow, the business moved to SPL House in Bundall, a custom-designed head office and retail outlet. The building also hosts a state-of-the-art showroom, boardroom and impressive staff amenities, and was awarded “best renovated building design under $2 million” by the Master Builders Association.
In the mid-2000s, as the business continued to expand and develop expertise in electronic security, SPL won its first landmark contract—Sunland’s prestige two-tower development: Circle on Cavill.
Success has continued over the years as we gained rights to a host of high-profile constructions, including the Commonwealth Games Village, the Q1 Building and more. Check out some of our previous projects here.
In 2018, the business branched out into New South Wales by acquiring Ballina Locksmiths to continue to service the Northern Rivers area.
SPL Locksmiths has grown to become the leading security system business on the Northern Rivers and we now employ a specialist team of over 100 staff.
